Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really safe to use online image tools?
With PixVela, yes. Unlike most online tools that upload your files to remote servers, PixVela processes everything directly in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device — there's no upload, no server storage, and no way for anyone (including us) to access your files.
What is EXIF data and why should I remove it?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded in your photos by your camera or smartphone. It can include your GPS location, device model, date and time, camera settings, and even your name. Removing EXIF data before sharing photos online protects your privacy. Use the EXIF Viewer & Stripper to inspect and remove this data in one click.
What are Content Credentials (C2PA)?
Content Credentials are a new open standard (C2PA) backed by Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and others that embeds provenance information directly into image files. This includes who created the image, what tools were used to edit it, and whether AI was involved. Use the Content Credentials Viewer to inspect this data on any image.
How does invisible watermarking work?
Invisible watermarking uses steganographic techniques to embed hidden data within an image's DCT coefficients — the mathematical representation of image blocks used in JPEG compression. The changes are imperceptible to the human eye but can be detected and extracted by software. The Invisible Watermark tool uses the F5 steganographic algorithm to embed text tokens into JPEG images. The watermark is fragile by nature — re-compression, cropping, or resizing will likely degrade or destroy it.
Do I need to create an account?
No. PixVela has no accounts, no login, no signup. You can use all tools immediately without providing any personal information. We don't track users, don't use cookies for analytics, and don't collect any data whatsoever.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. The EXIF Viewer & Stripper supports batch processing — you can drop multiple images at once and view or strip metadata from all of them. Batch processing runs sequentially in your browser for optimal performance.
What image editing tools does PixVela offer?
PixVela currently offers seven tools: EXIF Viewer & Stripper, Content Credentials Viewer, Invisible Watermark, Image Compressor, Format Converter, Image Resizer, and Image Cropper. All tools run entirely in your browser — no uploads, no servers.
What image formats are supported?
The EXIF Viewer supports JPEG, TIFF, HEIC, AVIF, and PNG files. The Content Credentials Viewer works with any image format that contains C2PA manifests (typically JPEG and PNG). The Invisible Watermark tool works with JPEG images, as the DCT-based steganography requires JPEG compression. The Compressor, Converter, Resizer, and Cropper support JPEG, PNG, and WebP input.
